Backups. One of the most important things individuals and businesses should be doing, but very rarely are. You see, time creeps up on you. You don’t realize how many documents you’re creating, or how many pictures of the family you’re taking and loading onto that hard drive. Suddenly, the hard drive goes out, or the computer gets stolen, and you realize you have three years of valuable and irreplaceable data and pictures that have vanished into thin air. Suddenly, you wish you’d done backups. I had a client whom I bugged for three years to let me set up a backup system, but she resisted with one excuse or another. One day, lightning hit and fried her computer and she panicked because she had five years worth of family pictures and business documents that she no longer had access to and she found that she had no way of recovering. The hard drive was damaged so badly, I couldn’t get the data off it, so she ended up spending well over $1000 sending it to a specialized data recovery company that disassembled it in a clean room and managed to get most of her data. She now has a backup system in place. Don’t let yourself become a horror story! A surprisingly high number of businesses go out of business when they have a data loss and no backups. Can you afford to lost all those records? Or, pay your employees the hundreds of hours it can take to recreate it? Unfortunately, even those who backup, usually don’t do it properly. They stick an external hard drive on their desk, set up the software and figure they’re good to go. What happens if the house catches fire? Or someone breaks in and steals the computer and the backup disk? That actually happened to a client of mine! Also there is a difference between data backup and system backup. I set up both for you. You need more than one backup and you need to have data off-site as well. Don’t leave yourself exposed to a catastrophe! Give me a call and we’ll look at what needs to be backed up and how to do it and make any data loss as painless as possible. Trust me... it will only hurt a little! |
