Repair and Upgrade Existing Systems

Home

Everyone, whether they are an individual or a business, has to be watchful of expenses. Computers aren’t as expensive as they used to be, but they still represent a pretty large budgetary item for most people. For businesses, the expense is multiplied as they generally have many more computers than the average home user.

It is inevitable that at some point, there is going to be a problem with your computer or server. Or, maybe is just doesn’t have quite enough horsepower to run that new version at an acceptable speed.

At this point, my job as your consultant is to look at the various options available to you and help determine what the plan of action should be.

The older the system, the less money it makes sense to sink into it. If you can buy a new system for $800.00, it doesn’t make sense to pay me $500 to repair or upgrade your five year old computer system. You just end up with a five year old computer with no warranty that still has mostly five year old technology inside. However, there are times when it may make sense to do just that; it’s part of the process we will explore.

Again, as your consultant, my job is to give you the advice that is most cost-effective for you, not what makes me the most money. Yeah, I want to go to Paris, but I’m not going to make you pay for it by making you spend more money than necessary!

Many times, though, a repair can be very cost effective if you just need a video card, memory, or power supply replaced or something else that is relatively minor. Hard drives are more tricky as it will usually involve reinstalling Windows, which is a major expense if the old drive can’t be imaged and then restored to the new drive.

If your system is running with a minimal amount of memory, many times you can get a huge increase in performance if your system will allow a good sized memory upgrade.

I’ve only touched on a few things here, so as you can see, there are a lot of factors to consider before deciding what to do with that misbehaving machine!

Call today for an appointment to get together and discuss what can be done with your system.
